Performance for Les Ongles Noirs

Performance for Les Ongles Noirs in Birmingham Bullring Market, alongside N:U (fka Melissandre Varin) and Winter (Gaemhradh).
I used to go to this same market every weekend as a child; we’d buy yellow yam, smoked mackerel, fruit, chow-chow, and other veg. It was poignant and kind of strange to make something in a place that my younger selves knew.
So much gratitude for the staff at Bullring Market for their kindness and support, everyone at Eastside Projects, N:U for helping me retrieve my dream fallen tree branch from Moseley Bog; and the person in the audience (I wish I got their name) who I shared a cathartic moment with bursting out laughing and taking deep breaths post-performance.
Les Ongles Noirs was dreamed and created by N:U , commissioned by Eastside Projects and supported by Arts Council England , Fabric Dance and Fluxus Art Projects.
Photos all by brilliant Ayesha Jones.
